Wodao wins the Listed Tipperary Stakes, first stakes winner for broodmare sire Intello

WODAO, a €250,000 Goffs Orby Sale yearling last year, bought by Ben McElroy, wins the Listed Ten Sovereign Tipperary Stakes.

The colt is by Showcasing, but notably he is the first stakes winner for his broodmare sire Intello, the son of Galileo having had just a handful of runners so far out of his daughters – his oldest crop being seven-year-olds.

W0dao is a first foal out of the unraced 2015-born Intello mare Dadao, a member of that first crop by the sire, who stood at Cheveley Park Stud (part of a sharing arrangement with Haras du Quesnay) for the 2014 covering season.

She was bred by Hascombe and Valiant Stud and exchanged ownership at the Tattersalls July Sale 2018 for 55,000gns.

She hails from the stud’s long-produced family, tracing via a full-sister to Inchmurrin, the dam of Inchinor.

Trained by Donnacha O’Brien, the colt was bred by S C E A Elevage D’Yllone and purchased by O’Toole / Glenvale at the Arqana December Sale for €150,000.

Second-placed was Ardad’s Great, a retained breeze-up graduate now trained by Jessica Harrington. In the spring the colt was consigned at the Craven Sale by Bansha House Stables having been purchased as a yearling from Throckmorton Stud for a session top-priced 18,000gns at Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 4.
