Take a look at the Goffs Orby catalogue here

THE WORLD CLASS catalogue for Goffs Orby Sale 2022, featuring an even greater share of the very best Irish yearlings, is now available online.

The Irish National Yearling Sale has 511 lots catalogued and will take place from 27 – 28 September at Kildare Paddocks, with the sale commencing at 9.30am each day.  All yearlings offered will be eligible for Europe’s Richest 2YO Race, the Goffs Million, over 7 furlongs at the Curragh in September 2023.

Eleven yearlings from the final crop of the legendary Galileo headline an Orby sire profile that is on par with any top tier international sale.  All the leading European sires are strongly represented including Dubawi, Frankel, Sea The Stars, Dark Angel, Lope De Vega, Churchill, Nathaniel, Kingman, Siyouni, Zoffany, Oasis Dream, No Nay Never, Starspangledbanner, Camelot, Invincible Spirit, Night Of Thunder, Mehmas, Australia and many more leading and first-season sires.  Siblings to European Classic winners, Group 1 winners and Group-winning juveniles from the current season will also be offered at Orby.

The following is a small selection of the many outstanding prospects on offer in this year’s catalogue:

Recent winning Orby graduates include Prosperous Voyage who finished a close second in the English 1000 Guineas before going on to Group 1 glory in the Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket for Marc Chan and Andrew Rosen.

At Royal Ascot, there was an Orby double courtesy of KHK Racing’s Eldar Eldarov in the Group 2 Queen’s Vase, while previous Group 1 winner Broome landed the Group 2 Hardwicke Stakes in the colours of Masaaki Matsushima.  In the US, Stonestreet Stables enjoyed a superb result with their Wesley Ward-trained Twilight Gleaming, who won the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint.

Persian Force won the Group 2 July Stakes for Amo Racing and Omnihorse, while another recent Group winner is Mark Dobbin’s Ladies Church who took the Sapphire Stakes at The Curragh last week.

Commenting on publication of the Orby catalogue, Goffs Group Chief Executive Henry Beeby said:

“When selections began for this year’s Orby, we set a target to take the Irish National Yearling Sale to new heights in 2022 and build on the success of last year.

“Thanks to increased support from leading Irish breeders we have grown the catalogue whilst maintaining the quality across both days and I extend our thanks to every vendor as we are nothing with their beautiful yearlings. This country is synonymous with the thoroughbred and we are so proud to bring international buyers to view even more of the best yearlings Ireland has to offer in the unrivalled sales complex at Kildare Paddocks this September.

“The introduction of the Goffs Million last year proved a huge hit with buyers and this year’s race at the Curragh on Saturday 24 September will be a wonderful way to kick off the Orby Sale week when the contenders for the 2023 Million will be on offer within days.”
