It was a celebration day for Exceed And Excel at Doncaster as sire and grand-sire

FORMER DARLEY sire Exceed And Excel enjoyed a stakes-winning day as a sire and a grand-sire – his ex-Coolmore-based son Excelebration produced the Sceptre Fillies’ Stakes (G3) winner Bounce The Blues, while the 22-year-old retired stallion sired the Scarborough Stakes (L) winner Manaccan.

Bounce The Blues is the 12th foal out of the Cadeaux Genereux Jazz Up, bred by Kilnamoragh Stud and owned by Barbara Keller. The five-year-old filly was winning her first Group race, but has won or placed in 10 of her 16 starts. She is entered in the Sun Chariot Stakes (G1).

Bounce The Blues is a half-sister to the Group 3 winner Jazz Princess (Bahhare) and the Meydan Listed-placed Sholaan (Invincible Spirit) and from the great female family of Blue Duster.

Excelebration is now at Moroccan National Stud having stood for seven years at Coolmore at an initial fee of €22,000 and a final fee of €8,000.

Manacaan steps up to Group 3 class

The John Ryan-trained three-year-old colt Manacaan took the 5f Listed Scarborough Stakes confirming his trainer’s opinion of his ability.

“I think a lot of Manacaan – we always have – and he’s the best one I’ve had for a while,” said Ryan to the press after the race. “His ideal trip is five as he’s got a high cruising speed and a turn of foot and I think he’s going to be a better horse next year. If the ground stays okay we’ll go to Newbury on September 17 for the International Trophy.”

A Tattersalls Guineas Breeze-Up 2021 purchase by Jamie Piggott for 100,000gns sold by Knockanglass Stables, he was an October Book 1 2020 yearling but was a vendor buy back then when consigned by Fernham Farm for breeder Al-Baha Bloodstock.

The colt was subsequently owned by Graham Smith-Bernal until the beginning of September and is now in Newsells Park Stud-Ossie Ardiles Synd ownership.

He is out of the Acclamation mare Shyrl, bought by Fernham Farm for 80,000gns from Highclere Stud at the Tattersalls December Sale in 2018. She was earlier bought by Tony Nerses for 70,000gns at the Tattersalls Craven Sale and was owned in training with Saleh Al Homaizi and Imad Al Sagar for whom she finished runner-up in the Queen Mary Stakes (G2).

She has now produced a Group 3 winner, a Listed winner and the Group-placed juvenile Divine Spirit, as well as two other winners, all with form over 5f and 6f.
