Glenagles colt Vero Atleta collects the Group 2 Premio Gran Criterium

A LISTED winner last time out at the beginning of October, and second in the Premio Primi Passi (G3) in June, Vero Atleta built on that good summer and autumn form for a first Group 2 success in the Premio Grand Criterium for owner Scuderia Incolinx and Diego Romeo, trainer Grizzetti Galoppo SRL and jockey Dario Vargiu.

The Gleneagles colt was bred by Corrin Stud, purchased by Maroc Bozzi Bloodstock at the Goffs Autumn Yearling Sale for €23,000.

He is out of the Danehill Dancer mare Love Match, the dam of five winners and a daughter of the Rockfel Stakes (G3) and Oh So Sharp Stakes (L) winner Name Of Love

Her Dandy Man yearling filly of this year was bought by Joe Foley for 12,000gns at the Somerville Yearling Sale 2022. She was due to Elzaam this spring.

Gleneagles has had seven black-type winners in 2022, headed by Grade 1 winner Highland Chief, the Group 2 winner and Group 1-placed juvenile Royal Scotsman and the Valiant Stakes (G3) winner,  the three-year-old Jumbly. The sire has had three further Listed three-year-old winners in Italy.
